Mosque, Ahmed al-Jazar (Ahmed Al Jazzar mosque)From the central gate of the city street Saladin takes you to the mosque, Ahmed al-Jazar, the largest of the 4 city churches. Mosque of Ahmad al-Jazar (Ahmed Al Jazzar mosque) was built in 1781, Ahmed al-Jazar to model the Ottoman mosques with domes. Courtyard mosque can be reached by climbing the stairs on the right side which is an old shop. The inner yard of the Mosque of rectangular shape, its three sides are decorated with vaulted galleries. The premises are located around the yard once served as lodging for the night for the pilgrims and Muslim clerics. At the eastern end of the vaulted galleries are steps leading down to the tank, whose age is correlated with the age of the Crusaders. This capacity is provided city water during a siege. Opposite the main entrance to the mosque is a fountain with a copper roof, lying on the elegant columns. The fountain was designed for ritual ablutions.A small building with a domed ceiling to the right of the main entrance, holds sarcophagi, Ahmed al-Jazar, and his successor, Suleiman Pasha.By itself, the mosque with its tall, slender minaret is a magnificent example of architecture of Turkish Baroque. The building is in blue, white and brown colors.
